As a London Based ceramicist, Freya's ideology centres around her identity as a black female artist with a strong voice that has derived from having a Rastafari father who through his own success introduced her to the world of clay. She is an artist who is determined to bring a piece of the craft she has spent years honing into the homes of others.
"Ceramics is the most beautiful material I have ever touched and has endless possibilities, and it's those possibilities that I hope to share through my work" - Freya Bramble Carter
Undeniably, there is no wrong or right way to create a piece of art. However you would be hard to dismiss that Freya has mastered the art of discipline and persistence, learning not to settle for anything less than her own idea of perfection.
It takes time to craft a vision that flows with her own perspective of life. Hence why she can spend weeks working on a single piece, selecting everything from the clay type to the finishing glaze. You will notice that a central theme in her current collection is nature, from which she draws a multitude of ideas.
